THE GIRLS IN SCIENCE INTERNATIONAL PLATFORM IS CREATED FOLLOWING THE THIRD COMMEMORATION OF THE INTERNATIONAL DAY OF WOMEN AND GIRLS IN SCIENCE, WHERE THE FIRST EVER GIRLS IN SCIENCE PANEL WAS HELD. THE OUTCOME DOCUMENT AND RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE GIRLS IN SCIENCE PANEL WERE PRESENTED AT THE CLOSING CEREMONY OF THE THIRD DAY AND APPROVED BY ACCLAMATION.
Girls from all around the world convened to discuss solutions to achieve gender equality in the sciences.
The Girls in Science International platform, an initiative by the Royal Academy of Science International Trust (R.A.S.I.T), aims to promote equality for sustainable development through continual exchange and interaction.
This platform is managed by young change-makers and passionate girls-in-science advocates from around the world to present their vision on how they can utilize sciences to achieve sustainable development goals.
This platform strives to empower, educate and embolden the potential of every girl. The objective of this International platform is to give girls the opportunity to gain core leadership skills, training in community-building and advocacy. It also aims to bring the United Nations closer to Youth in general and Girls in particular and visa versa, with permanent actions to make sure that the United Nations work is known and appreciated by global society. People should feel and recognize that the United Nations have the capacity to face and solve conflicts and humankind´s challenges.
The Girls in Science International Platform therefore aims to open dialogue with Girls, Experts, Youth, Policy Makers and people from different backgrounds, cultures and societies on issues relevant to science, technology and innovation for sustainable development and engaging global audience in a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing the world.
