Submission of written statements for the 7th International Day of Women and Girls in Science Assembly is open for NGOs, Academic Institutions, and civil society from 10 December 2021 to 14 January 2022.
We are not able to accept late submissions.
NGOs, Academic Institutions, and civil society may submit one individual statement per organization and may sign on to multiple joint statements.
Written statements by individual organization may not exceed 1,000 words including the cover page.
Joint statements by organizations may not exceed 2,000 words including the cover page.
Written statements may be submitted in one of the official languages of the United Nations (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, Spanish) and will be published on the Official Website of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science in the language received, closer to the event.

1. Formatting:
Cover page:
- Should only show the name of the submitting organization, country, website, Status (e.g., NGO, Academic Institution, Civil Society, Association, etc.).
- If you are submitting a joint statement, add the names of the submitting organizations in alphabetical order on the cover page. Ensure that the names of organizations are referenced in the footnote with country, website, Status (e.g., NGO, Academic Institution, Civil Society, Association, etc.).
Statement Pages:
- Your statement should start from page 2.
- Do not use footnotes, end notes or web links. Please incorporate all information into the text of the statement.
- If the statement is endorsed by Organizations / Institutions / Civil Society / Association, add a note at the end of the document to this effect. (The names should be in alphabetical order). Please note that only non-profit organizations may endorse your statement.
- Avoid using abbreviations and acronyms. Submission:
- Submit your written statement in MS-Word format (docx/doc).
- Use the name of your organization as document name.
- Ensure that the entire document, including the cover page, is within the applicable word limit.
- Attach the document to an email, using the official name of your organization as email title/subject. Send the email containing the attached statement to statement.submission@womeninscienceday.org from the official email account of your organization, or one of your organization’s conference focal points.
- We are NOT able to accept your statement as plain text within the body of the email, or in other formats such as PDF, jpeg, etc.
- Please note that your email submission to statement.submission@womeninscienceday.org is final you will not be able to edit your statement upon submission or send multiple versions. Kindly ensure that your statement is finalized prior to sending it.
- All submissions need to be received prior to the deadline of 14 January 2022. We will not be able to accept late submissions.
2. Editorial Recommendations:
- Identify key ideas that you would like to address introduce these ideas in the first sentence or paragraph of your statement.
- Avoid repetition. Keep statements clear, simple and to the point.
- To make reading effortless, organize material by applying the principle of one thought per paragraph.
- Verify references to titles and dates of United Nations or International events and conferences.
- Avoid the use of quotations.
