Developing Your Design Process

A great design process resource to refer to is IDEO.org’s Design Kit. We suggest you download the free PDF Field Guide To Human Centred Design and implement the methods that suit your team’s needs as a team best (alternatively, you can create an account on their website, and save your team’s selected methods there).

Team Organisation

Collaborating internationally across time zones or with challenging schedules? Consider these tools to help you synchronise your work flow and to advance your work asynchronously:

  • Time and Date Meeting Planner can help you fix a weekly meeting time across disparate time zones.
  • Google Sheets can help you delegate and keep the ideas and work flowing more easily.
  • Create a note.ly account to brainstorm and bundle ideas together.
  • Create a team Google Drive (and consider integrating this into a Slack account) to work collaboratively on docs and slides.

Putting the Finishing Touches to Your Presentation

Make sure you allocate plenty of time in your workflow for planning, creating and polishing your presentation. You can even work on some of this as you go along.

  • If you are preparing a Slideshow, remember that a picture can say 1000 words, have a theme in mind to ensure coherence throughout the slides, and edit until you are presenting just the essentials.
  • If you are planning to submit an Essay or Research Paper, kindly see Science 101 – Demystifying Research Papers, written by Alma Nordenstam and Salma Alrowaie, two of our Girls in Science 4 SDGs International Platform team members, and they will helpfully guide you through the process.
  • Sending in a Video? This is a good example of a storyboarded video.
